Lynn Scott
Lynn started fishing when he was old enough to hold a pole and fly fishing since age 10. He has spent over 40 years fly fishing the waters of the West. Some of his favorite water as of late has been the Henry’s Fork, South Fork of the Snake and the famed waters of Henrys Lake in Idaho. He, along with a partner a few years ago acquired the guiding business BS Flies & Tackle from the legendary Bill Schiess. Guiding has given him a great opportunity to teach, have a little fun, and to photograph nature. He has fun watching people when it all comes together and “fish on”. He loves Stillwater! Along with being a Stillwater guide he is a published photographer/writer and you can see his work in various fly fishing publications. As a youngster he spent many hours with his father learning various aspects of fly fishing and photography. However, it wasn’t until the last few years that his interest in writing and photography blossomed. He has commented that he is “far from mastering the art of photography and Stillwater but he says he is a little closer than he was yesterday”.
Mike Smith
Mike Smith was born and raised on a ranch in a small town in northwest Wyoming. My grandfather was Eldon Kinghorn who was a well known fly fisherman and an accomplished fly tier. He began teaching me at a very young age the skills of fly fishing spring creeks in Wyoming and occasionally we fished Yellowstone Park and Idaho. I first began Stillwater fishing on Monster Lake and Newton Lakes close to Cody, Wyoming. I helped guide on Monster Lake for about 10 years. My wife and I owned and operated Mike Smith Outfitters in Greybull, Wyoming for the past 20 years where we did big game hunting and summer pack trips to high wilderness lakes in the Big Horn Mountains. I moved to Idaho in April of 2004 where I took the job as the Wildlife and Recreation Manager for Eagle Ridge Adventures, a division of Riverbend Ranch. I managed Sheridan Lake located near Island Park where we offer catch and release fly fishing for trophy rainbow trout. I have recently returned to guiding elk hunting trips in the fall and will continue to guide fly fishing trips with BS Flies during the summer months. I love guiding and teaching others the art of stillwater fly fishing.
Bill Schiess
Bill Schiess has been fishing Henrys Lake for over 50 years and been guiding there over 25 years. He has developed a series of effective fly patterns for many lakes with Henrys Lake as the priority for them. Bill has cut down his guiding to about 10 days each season and guides only from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. due to age and health reasons. During the winter he teaches at Madison High School in Rexburg, ID, where he is also busy writing and doing photography for several newspapers and other publications. He also stays busy by making rustic furniture, playing with grandchildren, church responsibilities, hunting and fishing other lakes and streams. He can be reached through email

Jimmy Knox
I am an avid outdoorsman. I grew up playing ball in California and continued playing ball for the semi-pro team, Real Madrid, while serving in the U.S.A.F. stationed outside of Madrid, Spain. Returning to Idaho to live after leaving the Air Force, I have continued my enjoyment of the outdoors. I enjoy all forms of hunting, fishing, and golfing and I don’t have any “off” season. I have fished most of the waters of south east Idaho and enjoyed many a day fly fishing on Henry’s lake and island park reservoir over the last 25 years. Much of my fly fishing experience has been on lakes and still water from a boat or down close and personal from a float tube. I do fish on the South Fork of the Snake River once in a while and enjoy the change of pace. In the winter I exchange my boat for an ice auger and my flies for meal worms for a day on the ice.
