What can I say about the last two weeks of fishing on Henry's. We have had some really exceptional days mixed with a few slower days just to keep things normal. It's safe to say it's been a sweet couple of weeks fishing.
The fishing started off hot at Stayley's a couple of weeks ago and they are still catching fish at the usual places at Stayley's. Duck creek has been seeing some action. Early in June through the third week of June it was really good. Fishing slowed there for a little while but as of late it has started to pick up again. Just as Duck Creek and Stayley's started to slow the fish really started hot off of Targhee Creek. The caddis flies were coming off in swarms. The fish have been working on them like I do at a Chuck Wagon all you can eat eatery. There were little one year old fish being caught right up to those big piggies in that 10 to 14lb range. To make things really sweet some really nice Brook Trout were being caught in the 3 to 4lb range. We have only caught Male Brook Trout the last couple of weeks so far. If you can't catch my enthusiasm well I guess the pictures might do it. It has been a great couple of weeks!
The one thing that is still a mystery are the Damsels! Where are they—don't know. We have seen some emergence with a few bugs crawling about. It's not what I would call a hatch yet that I have seen. We will keep you posted.
The best flies being used right now are the Mighty Mouse, Henry's Lake Renegade , Half Assed Renegade, Brown CB and the BH Electric Black.
Sheridan has really heated up over this last couple of weeks. Some nice fish are being caught with a few big ones making it into the net. The numbers are back up were they should be with 20 to 30 fish boated per outing. They are still hard charging fish with a lot of spunk.
The fish are pretty scattered in the lake. There really isn't a hot spot. There is plenty of action no matter where you go on the lake. The bigger fish seem to be at the dam end down deep and are still being a little stubborn. Like Henry's Lake the Damsels are not coming off in great numbers A few being seen wiggling in and a few adults is all. Not sure when they are going to pop. We are seeing some evening Caddis hatches which are bring the fish to the surface.
The flies doing the best are the Black Pearl and the Pumpkin. There are others that are making a connection but not note worthy as of yet.
Overall the last few weeks have been nothing but sweeeet!!! It is time to get out fishing!!
