Henry's Lake Fishing Report
I decided to add pictures this time to the fishing report. There are still those nay sayers out there that report there are no fish in Henry's Lake or the fishing is slow. Some would say that there are only a few large ones and nothing else. Well, we know at least two fish exist as the pictures will show. However, I can attest to the fact that there are big fish and there are little fish. There are good numbers of fish. Now you're not going to go catch 35 fish in a morning but you are going to catch some fish and they are going to be big fish like the one Bill is holding. The little one on the right is eight pounds. Keep in mind, that these fish are not being held out to make them look bigger. This fish is being held up close. In fact while taking the picture Bill became a lot closer to his fish as it kept wanting out of the boat. Bill did hang on for the 8 second count and the picture.
Over the course of Friday and Saturday, Bill's boat alone hooked, caught and lost over 50 fish. Bill alone accounted for 29 fish in two days. Only one of those fish was less than 5 lbs and it was 18 inches. Now where can you go and catch those kinds of fish? You might say, "Well that's Bill, and he always catches fish." I was there Friday when a young man, Justin Jenkins, in Bill's boat, caught 3 fish over 10 lbs. It was a trip of a life time for this young man. I was with Bill when he caught the fish in the picture. The fish was 30 inches and went right close to 14 lbs. My fish this day ended up getting snatched by the weed monsters. It too was a very large fish. I also was a witness to many other local characters catching big fish. Just so there is no mistake, big fish can be caught by others as seen by the scroungy mutt in the other picture. This fish was caught on an earlier trip this year.
The news on Henry's is as stated, "It's a very nice place to catch BIG fish". These fish are being caught both morning until about noon , and then in the early evening around 5 to 9pm . This week the fish have been caught with a variety of flies. The Mighty Mouse, and Light Olive Crystal bugger are the top two choices. Scud patterns are a good choice as well.
