Henry's Lake Fishing Report

Well it's getting a bit warm and those big fish seem to be finding the coolest places on the Lake . Some have even done it one better and are taking a cold swim at Staley Springs behind the no fish zone. Who said fish aren't smart? Just take a peek in that little swimming hole in the no fish Zone. Those fish didn't get that big for being dumb. I think this last week the big fish won the battle. Most of last weeks catch have been the smaller fish variety. Seems to be a lot of those little fish in the lake. Watch out for the upcoming years. There are going to be a lot of large fish. Some big fish were caught just not the numbers like during the damsel hatch. There have been a good caddis hatch in the mornings that get the fishing active. There are a few damsels still swimming around trying to find their way towards shore. The best fishing has been off Targhee Creek in the early morning hours. The mighty mouse and the light olive crystal bugger are getting the most attention. Bill of course is still catching fish. He seems to always find the fish. Watch out for those big storms coming through in the afternoons and evenings. This can cause some problems for boaters and the fishing. We need the rain so we won't complain. Just want to make mention for those who might not know. Damon Keen at the Fish & Game department at the Henry's Lake fish hatchery has worked hard on the fishery over the last couple of years and is bringing the life back into Henry's Lake .
